Haitian Christian Outreach - Facilities Safe and Acting as Refugee Center

We are so very thankful for all the help from our friends in the U.S. but allow me to tell you a little about YOUR brothers and sisters IN HAITI and what they are doing for one another. We have 2 major works in Haiti. One is in Port au Prince – it is the “heart” of what we do. Here HCO started 25 years ago wanting to “do something for Haiti that would last.” From the beginning Roro and Gerard set out to do things holistically. Evangelism, discipleship, feeding, preacher/teacher training, medical, education, etc. When we built buildings we reinforced the reinforcement. We built slow and methodically using lots of rebar. You get the picture? Okay, to make a long story short – if you want the long version, let me know…………………
Today in Port au Prince, our Haitian brothers and sisters are housing, feeding and caring for over 1700 people in our, thankfully, usable buildings. But here is the amazing thing – their fellow Christians in Peredo and Sequin (our other works) are today harvesting their very precious crops. These are the people devastated by a hurricane 2 years ago when the PaP people helped them. These are the people that 2 years ago we airlifted supplies into. These are the people that we sent seeds to rebuild their farms. These are the people who are just getting back on their feet from that hurricane. THESE ARE THE PEOPLE who today, as I write to you are harvesting these precious crops and will carry them by hand and beast over treacherous mountain trails for the next 2 days to take them to their brothers and sisters in PaP. Oh, dear God, thank you!

On behalf of these precious people,
Stephen Collins, Director of Undergraduate Programs
Hargrove School of Adult and Graduate Studies
